Richard Conti, Editor-in-Chief, and Professor Hu Dayi, Founding Editor, of Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications (CVIA) reflect on the journal development since the launch of the title at the 25th GW-ICC in 2014. Much progress has been made, with many topical special issues published on subjects ranging from heart failure to electrophysiology. Upcoming issues include topics such as heart valve disease, anticoagulation/antiplatelet therapy, adult congenital heart disease, female heart disease and stable ischemic heart disease. Stronger links with the GW-ICC congress have been established in 2017 with the publication in the journal of selected abstracts from the congress. The editorial board has also been expanded to include additional respected international and Chinese cardiology experts.
