A Novel Clip-and-Plug Bailout Strategy for Acute Severe and Extensive Leaflet Injury After M-TEER

Announcing a new article publication for Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications which reports a “clip-and-plug” technique to manage severe valve damage during a minimally invasive heart procedure. The report describes combining valve clips with a vascular plug to reduce leakage in a 55-year-old woman after mitral valve repair caused extensive leaflet tearing.

The devices remained stable, with mild to moderate leakage at one month. The single case suggests a potential rescue option when surgery is unsuitable, although further research is needed.
